Pre Purchase Inspection

One of the most enjoyable moments of a pilot is when he or she takes their first flight in the plane they just purchased.

 

One of the worst experiences is when you find that there is something wrong with your new plane. At Emerson Aviation we work with our customers to ensure that the plane you are about to buy is nothing short of what you expect.

 

When buying a plane it is important to know what you are getting into. Whether it is a fixer upper or a plane that is ready to fly, a pre-purchase inspection can help you avoid the pitfalls associated with a private transaction purchase.

Tail Part of a Plane

A pre-purchase inspection should be performed by a licensed IA/A&P and should include the following:

  • Inspection of the airframe for structural integrity and corrosion

  • Engine compression, performance, leaks, stress and metal

  • Landing gear, brakes, tires, hard landings, stress

  • Appendages, airfoils, flight controls, cables

  • Has the aircraft always been maintained in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations

  • Electrical system, wiring, battery, generator/alternator

  • Hydraulic systems, leaks, filters, actuators

  • Avionics, performance and installation

  • FAA Documentation and background checks (is the aircraft air-worthy and legal)

  • Title Search
