What can't I do as a Certified Flight Instructor?
While becoming a Certified Flight Instructor lets you share for your skills as an accomplished pilot, there are some limitations to your certificate:
You may not conduct more than 8 hours of flight training in any 24-conseuctive-hour period.
You may not conduct flight training in an aircraft unless you hold:
A flight instructor certificate with the applicable category and class rating
Hold a pilot certificate with the applicable category and class rating
Provide flight training for a student attempting to get their initial flight instructor certificate unless you have held a flight instructor certificate for at least 24 calendar months.

Am I eligible to become a Certified Flight Instructor?
Be at least 18 years old.
Hold at least a current Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument Rating.
Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.

How many hours does it take to become a Certified Flight Instructor?
Becoming a Certified Flight Instructor requires learning advanced maneuvers and mastering your skills as an aviator. While the FAA has no minimum hours requirements to become a CFI, transitioning to the right seat and growing your knowledge base to the instructional level takes a significant amount of work on behalf of the applicant.
